Ecology Hazardous Waste Recycling Determinations
  • Ecology recycling determinations exempt legitimate reusable hazardous wastes from solid waste universe – now product.
  • Since 1996,spent etchant from circuit board manufacturers reused as ingredient.
    • Make copper oxide, copper sulphate, regenerate new etchant and copper metal feedstock.

Recycling Determinations
  • 1995 determination for fiberglass products Industry.
    • Still bottoms from solvent distillation serve as substitute ingredient to make putty product.
    • Maximum 2% threshold for solvents in putty.
  • Idaho semi-conductor manufacturer generates 10,000 gallons per month spent sulphuric acid.
    • Acid serves as substitute for virgin chemical in WA pulp and paper wastewater treatment.

  • 150 Sustainable Business MBA Graduates trained (2006-2008)
  • 15 business partners participating in the P2 BPS Forum
  • 5 regional business and trade organizations participation
  • 3 – 5 collaborative regional sustainable business projects
  • Measure 10 – 50 tons of toxic pollutant reductions, including carbon dioxide (estimated); $3.0 million annually in financial savings or income (estimated); kw/hr in energy savings & gallons of water saved
